A few nice words from people who dig us

Testimonial – Lee Broomhall – CEO, Workpower (Circa 600 employees)

I recently completed the OurWorkplace leadership (Foundation) modules, which included one on one mentoring from Dr Karen Borgelt.

Firstly, the modules themselves were exceptional. The content was interesting, factual, structured in a way that was well paced and easy to understand.  There is a mix of audio as well as reading and visuals. The 4 modules are very cleverly ordered, so that after modules 2 and 3 you really start to see the thread of your learnings coming through and while you’re working through module 3, you start to remember the importance of the concepts learnt in module 1!

The 4 phases were really relevant to me as a CEO, yet can be applied to any supervisor or manager, it doesn’t matter what level in an organisation you are operating.   Importantly, whilst the content reminds you about certain aspects of leadership, governance, and risk, or the difference between management and leadership, productivity and busyness, overall it really provides valuable insight into how to both strengthen your organisation and risk proof it now and into the future.  It’s very balanced and holistic.

Karen is very knowledgeable, empathetic and highly responsive.  She was very flexible with schedules and super generous with her time.  I can’t thank her enough for her time and for sharing her insights.

I can thoroughly recommend this program and I would encourage organisations to include their supervisors, leadership teams and HR specialists in the learning process.

Testimonial – Neil Gardner – General Manager East, LogiCamms – A Verbrec Company

I have recently completed the 4 Supervisor and Managers Modules with OurWorkplace, and highly recommend them. It builds on the foundations that many people instinctively know (the need for role clarity, ongoing performance management etc), but then introduces many new concepts, context, structure and tools which I have since been able to utilise in my role.

Using this newly learned tool kit (and way of thinking), I am now more confident in my capabilities as a manager in reducing companies risk whilst fostering a more aligned and motivated high performing team. A great training package. Thanks once again.

Testimonial – Kelvin Andrijich – Managing Director, Alltype Engineering

Karen and her knowledge and implementation of the Our Workplace program had a significant positive impact on our leadership team in better understanding how to practically manage employees, work with peers and supervisors and the reasons for various human resource type issues that can occur in the workplace. The self paced program in conjunction with ongoing mentoring throughout the process allowed two way feedback and tutoring of the knowledge imparted through the course work.

Every one of our management team that completed the program said it contributed positively to their roles as leaders and managers.”

Testimonial  - Justus Homburg, Executive Director at Symptom Tracking Services

I spent more than three decades working in organisations from small start-ups with half a dozen employees to a fortune-500 company with more than 40,000 employees. After learning how OurWorkplace approaches the issues of clearly defining roles I realised that I never got this right and that many problems and their associated costs I experienced both as a staff member and as a leader would have been avoided if only we applied the principles of OurWorkplace.

Testimonial – Nikesh Hirani – Head of Products at HIF Australia

The course was well structured and provided refreshing view on leadership. It incorporates neuroscience and psychology which is different to most other leadership courses, providing greater insight into human behaviour as leadership at its core is about influencing or driving change.

I found the mentoring sessions with Karen really valuable in reinforcing the learnings and also an opportunity to discuss real workplace examples. Karen is extremely knowledge and a great mentor.

I found the rewards module really useful as it largely focussed on the day to day rewards as opposed to the more commonly known larger rewards relating to remuneration. The link between the brain and motivational theories was extremely useful and has helped me gain a greater understanding of rewards in general.

Overall, I found the course to be insightful and extremely valuable for my development. I would highly recommend the course for any leader.

 David Baker, Strategic Marketing Manager

I went into this course unsure what to expect and (to be blunt) I wasn’t sure if it would help me. However, what I quickly discovered was how much I didn’t know, and how much I would gain from having this knowledge. There is so much value in these modules and they teach you things you didn’t even know you needed or wanted to know. It’s really helped with my personal and professional development.

The OurWorkplace modules exceeded my expectations in terms of what I expected to achieve from this course.  On a personal level, I found my weekly conversations with Karen to be invaluable – it was wonderful to read and listen to the practical knowledge, but to then practice this theory in my day to day working environment and to discuss this with Karen really helped to instil confidence in me that I had captured it correctly and most importantly that I was applying it correctly.

Elaine Sum, Director, Advanced Transformations Pty Ltd.

Garth hit the nail on the head in his short, interesting webinar, "Busy being busy". From my own experience, I absolutely agree that top leaders should address the underlying issues, not the symptoms, and examine the organisation holistically. Garth rightly points out that there are usually just a few critical root causes behind the hundreds of daily fires to be put out. Eliminating the non-value adding busy-ness frees up resources for growing the business.

Testimonial - Maureen (Company name withheld on request)

A huge thank you to OurWorkplace and to the wonderful Karen for being such a pleasure to work alongside (she really is an absolute guru). The content supplied in the modules was invaluable to me and really helped to provide me with the knowledge, confidence and clarity I needed. I would not hesitate to recommend this course to my colleagues and friends and look forward to working alongside Karen and the incredible team at OurWorkplace in the future.

Wendy Palmer, Department of Trade and Investment

“I was blown away with what I was learning and just how beneficial I found the information within the whole course.  I had never before understood quite so well the correlation between cause and effect issues in workplaces.  It showed exactly why getting the foundations right really matters, and is not something you can bypass or do in part if you truly want your workplace to function well”.

Mark Schofield, Business Specialist, WorkSmart Business Advisory.

Garth, your presentation was a real cut through to the core of organisational dysfunction (ooops simplify that to business woes!).

Stephen C. (Energy company)

I thought we were pretty well covered with Position Descriptions, but I now understand how inadequate they were. Just improving that is a big start, but everything else leads on from there.  Our business has improved in every aspect, is more productive and a calmer place to work.

Donna H (Financial Services company)

This program is different to anything I had done before; but it just makes so much sense. Every time I re-read a section I got more out of it. The mentoring sessions certainly helped me to understand how I can use the new knowledge and perspectives in the modules".

Kate P  (education sector)

Karen, you are amazing. The knowledge you have and how you tie it all in together, really helped me to understand how to use the learning from the modules to overcome the issues I had with my people but also within the wider group.

You have changed my life. I am less stressed now that I know how to better manage situations, and that has improved things at home also.

Joe Hallenstein
Executive General Manager, Project Development | Vena Energy

Having fallen into a people management role without any formal training it was refreshing and insightful to learn some of the theory behind people’s behaviour and things to think about when managing and leading teams. It was challenging in our hectic workplace to find the time to complete the modules but the training was valuable and I really appreciated Karen’s personally-tailored mentorship and advice throughout the course which was both topical and relevant to things that were happening in my workplace. Highly recommended. Thanks very much, Karen.
